Children's spines are still developing, so serious long-term problems can occur when their posture is poor.
The growing spine is especially vulnerable to postural stress.

All of the problems below can be attributed
to poor posture:

  • pain; stiffness
  • pins and needles
  • tingling
  • numbness
  • depression
  • low self-esteem
  • fear avoidance
  • absence from education
  • restricted career choice
  • obesity; inactivity
  • cost of care
  • lost productivity

We could go on, but you get the idea.

It's important that we work hard to raise children's awareness of the importance of healthy spine posture, at school and at home. The long-term benefits are many and varied; the cost of failing to address musculoskeletal problems in children could be high. Today's generation of youngsters is having a very different experience of childhood from previous generations, mostly as a result of access to technology.

Free e-learning to schools, colleges and universities

Healthy Working MOVE, an innovative e-learning program, teaches children how to use technology safely and explains the dangers of poor posture, repetitive strains, and fatigue often associated with careless use of electronic devices.
Children using technology at school and in the home must be protected in the same way that the health and safety policy protects adults.
Healthy Working MOVE will help to provide that protection through information, advice and guidance delivered in a style that young people will respond to. Happy, healthy children will spend more time at school, enjoy more sports activity, have higher self-esteem and improved concentration in the classroom.
